Sustainability Report 2025
Turning sustainability goals into action
In 2025, ALPLA continued to embed sustainability into business decisions across operations, products and the value chain. Key milestones included the implementation of the Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, progress on the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) scope 3 target, the expansion of recycling activities, and the first external assurance of selected sustainability indicators. ALPLA also continued to align its sustainability reporting with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), including an updated double materiality assessment and expanded sustainability disclosures.
We are proud of achieving
These achievements reflect the progress we are making across people, circularity and business resilience, while highlighting where we continue to focus our efforts.
People
ALPLA employs 25,006 people worldwide and remains committed to providing safe, fair and future-oriented workplaces. Employee retention continued to improve, while investment in learning and development remained strong, with 505,622 training hours delivered globally in 2025 and expanding apprenticeship programmes. While the frequency of workplace incidents decreased compared to the previous year, one work-related fatality occurred in 2025, underlining the continued importance of strengthening health and safety across all operations.
Planet
Climate action and circular economy remain at the core of ALPLA’s sustainability strategy. In 2025, 23.7% of plastic materials came from post-consumer recycled sources, while 92.7% of packaging materials were recyclable. Renewable energy consumption increased further, and ALPLA’s global greenhouse-gas emissions declined by 5.2%. Building on this progress, ALPLA established new circular economy targets for 2030, including 30% post-consumer recycled content, 95% of packaging materials meeting recyclability criteria and 700,000 tonnes of installed and planned recycling capacity.
Profitability
As a family-owned business, ALPLA views sustainability as a driver of long-term resilience and value creation. In 2025, the company introduced its Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, linking selected financing conditions to measurable sustainability targets. Sustainability considerations are considered in governance, procurement and customer solutions. ALPLA’s progress is also reflected in external assessments, maintaining EcoVadis Gold Medal status and achieving a CDP Climate Change score of B in 2025.
“Commitments in Action reflects our ambition to translate sustainability commitments into measurable progress. Reducing emissions, expanding circular solutions and strengthening collaboration across the value chain remain key priorities as we advance towards a more sustainable future.”
